Chasing Perfection! I'm LOVING watching the Olympi

Chasing Perfection! I'm LOVING watching the Olympics in Paris. 🌎 I can imagine myself in the crowds, streets, and stands covering my ears from the roaring cheers. It's both exhilarating and exhausting to watch from afar. 🤭

You can't help but hear the words from the commentators:
Perfection! Perfect execution! Almost perfect!

Here’s what Romanian swimmer David Popovici had to say about it in an interview:
“Absolutely no one is a perfect swimmer. Neither am I," he said. "The best you can do is try and chase perfection. And that's what I had in my head and in my mind every day for training. Just trying to get close to it, but being aware that you can never touch it.”

That may be the difference between striving for excellence and perfectionism, knowing that the ideal is simply the ideal. What counts is your best effort at the moment.

In my upcoming book, The Perfectionist’s Dilemma, I write about transforming the drive for perfectionism with self-compassion. You don't have to be a world-class athlete to be affected by the pressures to achieve and succeed in life. No one is immune.
